Eligibility Criteria for the Green Ration Card

Eligibility Criteria for the Green Ration Card

To receive a Green Ration Card in Telangana, a family must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. BPL Status: The family must fall below the poverty line, as determined by the latest socioeconomic census conducted by the government. This is the primary criterion for being eligible for a Green Ration Card.

  2. No Alternative Income Source: Families that do not have a reliable income source or are solely dependent on daily wages, or agriculture for their livelihood, are more likely to be eligible for the Green Ration Card.

  3. Residency in Telangana: Only households that are residents of Telangana are eligible to apply for a Green Ration Card. The family’s primary residence must be within the state’s jurisdiction.

  4. Verification Process: The eligibility is further verified through a thorough household survey conducted by the Civil Supplies Department. This may include income verification, family size, and existing food security measures.

  5. No Affluence Indicators: Families with high levels of income or those owning substantial assets like expensive vehicles, large land holdings, or other signs of affluence are not eligible for the Green Ration Card.
