Early Life and Education Rajdeep was born to Dilip Sardesai, a prominent Indian Test cricketer of Goan heritage, and Nandini Sardesai, a Gujarati activist and former head of the Department of Sociology at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. He completed his early education at Campion School and The Cathedral & John Connon School in Mumbai. Pursuing higher studies, he graduated in Economics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and furthered his education at University College, Oxford, obtaining degrees in Jurisprudence and the Bachelor of Civil Law. During his time at Oxford, Rajdeep showcased his athletic prowess by playing first-class cricket for Oxford University, earning a cricket Blue, and representing a combined Oxford and Cambridge team against the 1987 Pakistani touring side. Journalistic Career Rajdeep commenced his journalism career with The Times of India in October 1988, serving as the city editor of its Mumbai edition. In 1994, he transitioned to television journalism, joining New Delhi Television (NDTV) as Political Editor. At NDTV, he ascended to the position of Managing Editor for both NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India, overseeing news policies and hosting popular shows like "The Big Fight." In April 2005, Rajdeep departed from NDTV to establish Global Broadcast News (GBN) in collaboration with CNN and TV18. Under his leadership as Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN was launched in December 2005, followed by the acquisition and rebranding of Channel 7 to IBN7. In 2014, following Reliance Industries Ltd's acquisition of Network 18, Rajdeep, along with the founding team, resigned from the group. Subsequently, he joined the India Today Group as a Consulting Editor and continues to anchor prime-time shows on India Today Television.
